UAE ecommerce marketing calendar: Ramadan, White Friday and Dubai Shopping Festival

The short answer

UAE ecommerce demand peaks around Ramadan and Eid, UAE National Day in early December, White Friday in November and the Dubai Shopping Festival near the new year. Prepare each peak six to eight weeks ahead: agree the offer, build creative, check tracking and stock, warm up audiences, then monitor daily and follow up with email and WhatsApp.

Which seasons matter most for UAE ecommerce?

Several periods change what people buy and how much advertising costs. Exact dates change from year to year, so confirm them against official sources when you plan.

  • Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr: gifting, food, fashion and home items; shopping patterns shift to evenings
  • Eid al-Adha: another gifting and family period
  • Summer: many residents travel, so demand for some categories slows, while others, such as travel items and cooling products, rise
  • Back to school: late summer, for stationery, uniforms and electronics
  • White Friday and similar November sales: one of the busiest and most competitive periods
  • UAE National Day in early December: patriotic and gifting campaigns
  • The Dubai Shopping Festival, usually around the turn of the year: tourism and retail promotions

Why do the dates move?

Ramadan and the Eids follow the Islamic lunar calendar, which is about 10 to 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. Their dates therefore arrive earlier each year. Plan from the official announcement and keep a margin for last-minute changes.

How early should you prepare?

Earlier than feels necessary. Costs often rise during peaks and creative takes time to make and approve.

  • Six to eight weeks before: decide the offer, margin and stock, and book content and photography
  • Four to six weeks before: produce creative in your languages, finish landing pages and test the checkout
  • Three to four weeks before: check tracking for purchases and WhatsApp chats, and build retargeting audiences from your visitors and customers
  • One to two weeks before: warm up with teasers and early-access offers, and confirm delivery capacity
  • During the peak: check results daily, move budget to winners and keep fresh creative coming
  • After the peak: thank buyers, follow up with email and WhatsApp, and review what worked

How do you protect your margin during sales?

Big discounts can lift orders and still lose money. Before the sale, recalculate your break-even ROAS using the discounted price, because a lower price raises the ROAS you need.

Example: a product sells at AED 200 with a 40% margin, so break-even ROAS is 2.5. At a 20% discount the price is AED 160, but the cost stays AED 120, so the margin falls to 25% and break-even ROAS rises to 4. Check that your ads can still clear that number.

What should you do after a seasonal peak?

Peaks bring new customers who may never return unless you follow up. Set up welcome and post-purchase emails and WhatsApp messages, and invite buyers to leave a review once the product has arrived. Our guide to email flows shows how to start.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to run ads in the UAE?

It depends on your category. Gifting, fashion and home items often peak around Ramadan and Eid, while many stores see a surge during White Friday in November. Use your own sales history to find your peaks.

How far ahead should I plan for Ramadan?

Six to eight weeks ahead is a sensible starting point. That gives time for offers, creative, tracking and stock.

Do ad costs rise during sale periods?

They often do, because more advertisers compete for the same audience. Recalculate your break-even and test early to avoid surprises.

Where do I find official dates?

Use the official announcements for Ramadan and Eid, and the organisers of events such as the Dubai Shopping Festival and White Friday for each year.
